This little treasure only cost me £25 which I think was a bargain, most free standing lamps these days are either chrome or too modern looking. What also caught my eye was the fact that she was off white with a hint of pink, Basically the exact same colour of the two Annie Sloan paints which I use frequently. I was so pleased that I didn't have to touch up or transform for once.
The lampshade is a little too small for this style of lamp but I am hoping to either create something or buy a lamp shade on Etsy. If any of my lovely followers have seen something which would look nice with the lamp let me know.
The perfect Annie Sloan match.
Check out the pop up tent...such a lovely feature to our front room.
On to the unfinished garden.
So the decking was complete and I then started on the bench, I mixed two cuprinol paints to achieve this very pale duck egg colour. Everything looked fab until the next day it rained, and the bench looked like someone had tipped Beer all over it. The only thing I think it could be is the original stain seeping through the wood.
I put fixed trellis up against the fence and painted it Country cream, I then added lights for a bit of sparkle. The garden is beyond being completed I have so many things to find in order to make it look cheerful for example plants, shrubs and a wishing well the list goes on.
I hope you are all well and putting your busy little minds into action I have a few things lined up for the weekend and yes it involves a paint brush!

I think it looks great~the lamp and the garden efforts on the table and benches. And you are GORGEOUS! and what a cute little boy you have too~
ReplyDeleteHello Amy thank you for your sweet compliment, the funny bit about the garden make over is that Annie Sloan has remained on the side panels of the decking so I should of stuck with it originally and ditched the Cuprinol.
DeleteYou did well Tracy, for £25 ... you used to be able to pick these standard lamps up complete for a fiver, but charity shops soon get wise to what is being sought after! At least you don't have to get your paintbrush out, it looks fab! Enjoy your holiday weekend, Claire xxx
ReplyDeleteYes Claire you are so right everything is much more pricey now in charity shops, I think because of the financial struggles that people are having they are turning to thrifting and the charities are cashing in, which isnt a bad thing what so ever it just makes finding a bargain that bit difficult. The paintbrush is ready to attack at any minute, have a great bank holiday Claire. x
DeleteWhat a brilliant find, looks perfect for the room. I shall keep and eye out for a shade! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Harri it really does sit beautifully in my front room its just the shade that looks odd, thanks for your comment and keeping an eye out for me. x
DeleteI too love the standard lamp! You're little boy is so cute. I remember when KP was that age - I spent hours running down shopping aisles after her!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
June
Hi June yes he is very cute but cheeky with it he is pretty lazy when it comes to walking he loves his push chair and knocking things off the shelves as we cruise by. Thank you for your comment have a greak bank holiday. x
DeleteHi Tracey, the lamp is gorgeous! Brilliant it was in your colour too though I'm sure you wouldnt have minded doing a paint job anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, yes you are right I did try and stop myself from attacking the lamp with Annie Sloan.
DeleteIve got a bit of a thing for standard lamps at the moment! I've been really lucky to source several at the boot sales and luckily hubby can wire them all up for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to get them in their old wooden state and transform them, a couple will be staying at home but the others are heading to the big MK Vintage & Handmade Fair with my stall Priddy Priddy.
I think the fairy lights in the garden are lovely and will look fantstic come the darker nights, especially in the snow

Hello me dearie,
ReplyDeleteThe little lamp only cost a fiver from ebay. It runs from a battery, so no trailing wires. It is a bit teeny, but really cute. I'll try to send an ebay link.
You look gorgeous in your garden. I love your sandals.
I also love the jugs in your header. That sounds so wrong!
Your lamp is fab. Your home looks like heaven to me. xxx
