Vintage pretty

On a Monday we usually hit the shops and spend the day visiting different parts of Manchester we have lived here seven years and still have not managed to explore the little areas linked to the city. I wondered into my usual spot Tk Maxx and scanned the shelves I swear I must know all of the stock that they have in all stores I need to get a job in one of the stores but that could be seriously dangerous. I picked up some vintage themed fairy cases I put them in my basket and took them back out then in again I couldn't resist I am sure I will use them at some point.

How cute.

I headed to the glass wear section and spotted these! you all know my weakness for glass domes, cake stands and anything to do with cake.....

I saw two ladies walking past them and commenting on how lovely they were I picked one up noticed they were £4.99 each then swooped the other one and placed them in my basket "nobody was having them" I get very possessive in these shops, like a child who wants all of the toys not just one. I think it all started when I once found a whole table of Cath Kidston plates and bowls ect for £1.99 a large group of  ladies saw me pile a few into my trolley next thing you know they had completely cleared the whole table of everything so I started to panic and just threw random things in like jugs and teapots just in case I wanted them, when clearly I didn't. The funny thing about this was I left all of the items I didn't want close to the till and low and behold they grabbed them all. So this is my excuse for spoilt obsessive behaviour.

I need to start looking at a larger display cabinet because every week I just push it that little bit further.
Hope I didn't bore you with more cake related items.

Tarnished

Couldn't stop myself from entering the charity shops today there is a area in Manchester where they just hand over vintage treasure to charity shops they just turf out some incredible pieces. I had a little think to myself and have come to the conclusion that woman of my grandma's generation used tea sets, silver wear, cake stands ect everyday it wasn't a case of an event they just did everything in style. I remember my nan doing a great spread lunch and tea time she would have everything set out and made a real effort to dress the table with everything and anything. I came to the conclusion that yes its time that most woman's possessions are being taken to charity shops due to deceased or change of home, my nan passed away a few years ago and bless her she did very well at 90 years of age. I like to think that I am who I am because of her and share a little piece of her passion in everything I do, there isn't many 32 year old's that I know of having a panic attack over a tea set in the middle of a charity shop. Maybe one day when we are over the hill they will be dusting off Dyson Hoovers and George Foreman Grills. So everything that we are drawn too in a charity shop has a story behind it a sentimental value to that person, but we chose to love it all over again. This is what I picked up today.

Glass cake stand "Yes another but we wont discuss that" £3.00 slight chip on the side.

 Silver plated Cake Server

I used Aquafresh to bring this tarnished beauty back to life and it worked.
After......

After a good scrub, buff and polish these two scrubbed up very well. Now where on the high-street
would you find a glass cake stand and a silver plated server for a total of £7.00?.

I hope you all have a great Sunday Folks.

Something old something new

Charity shops...
there seems to be one situated on every street and I just love them. I have found so many treasures in these shops and have built up quite a collection of what some people might refer to it as old fashioned, Flora Bundy, Residential Home items, junk and so much more. Who cares as long as I enjoy looking at pre loved items and spent a small fortune on them I came out on top.

I emptied out the display cabinet and gave it all a little summer clean, I dread doing this as i feel one day the
whole cabinet is going to collapse on me. I just don't know when to stop! so this week I picked up another glass cake stand with dome and a condiments tray all for £14 I just need to find a occasion to put all of these to good use.

Here are all of my glass cake stands! I really do have an obsession with these I just cant stop buying them.
One day I always say to myself that I will open up a tea room and have them filled with cakes and treats, I just need to keep dreaming. To be fair it was either going to be cake stands or shoes and I chose these.

This is the latest of the bunch

These are all charity shops finds, I am not sure if they are real silver ware but they sure have a lot of history.
One day I will use these I am not sure when but I am sure they will be a occasion.

I placed two frilled pillow cases on each shelf just to protect the wood and also to add character, she really is my pride and joy. And to say we have a 18 month old kicking a ball around and other items I live on my nerves In this room.

All stacked up neatly until another friend comes along.

Here is the dressing cabinet in it's glory

I created this lamp shade a few months ago I dug it back out of the cupboard isn't fancy, I covered a old small lamp shade in ribbon and lace I love how It is so feminine but so unique.

Hope you all have a lovely day.
