More mirrors

I came across this photo this evening and I fell in love with the idea I have so many mirrors different sizes and styles and my stair case looks identical to this one in the picture. The only problem is most of the mirrors I have are rather large so I will have to play around before I start knocking the nails into the wall. And because I have just decorated I do not want to regret repeating one of my crazy d├ęcor moments.

The question is do I stick with the same colour mirror throughout or should I mix it up?

I have been busy this evening priming all three mirrors I have decided to paint them all the same colour. I really liked the finish on the first mirror but it just would not look right with the new colour scheme. I have decided to paint them this colour in "Strong White" it has a hint of grey and a off white finish.

Pretty things

Recently I have become obsessed with the Ruffle's after making my dust ruffle I decided to use the rest of my material and create a Ruffle valance curtain. This was going to go in my front room but I think it would look too much with all my other revamped furnishings. So I have found a place for it in my kitchen but no doubt it will be moved to another room by the end of the month. Does anyone else get bored of one thing for too long? I sometimes think what was I thinking when I have made something.

Please excuse my back garden "Sigh" it is on my list of jobs to do before summer arrives.

I had found a little bargain yesterday I have a obsession with cake stands and came across this one for £3.99 its very dainty and looks great on my Cath Kidston plate. I think I will be baking again this week.

If anyone is wondering these are not real cakes :(

My Greengate spoons arrived today sadly the Claire range has been discontinued so I have opted for four of the same design they are so delicate but very Shabby Chic.

Let there be light

I have been inspired by Cath Kidston's Retro pendant light shades but I am not keen on the colours and not to mention the price. They only sell dark red, green and blue shades and I wanted a pale colour to put in my kitchen, I think they are retailed at £44 just for a metal shade which is ludicrous I searched high and low on the internet but never found the right one. I popped into T.K.Max this week and I found the perfect light fitting they had a choice of three colours pale pink, pale green and red. Obviously I chose the pale pink who wouldn't, it is more rounded then Cath Kitson's but it still has that retro look to it.

Very similar to the Cath Kidston design

Most of the light is directed to the centre of the room which is a problem when you are cooking but nevertheless it s perfect. For £24.99 you can not complain it came as a full light fitting rather than just a shade. I remember something similar in the 80's my dad had one which you pull down to the table.

Green Gate Collection

I love Cath Kidston but today I came across another brand called Green Gate on another lovely log they have so many lovely floral prints in so many ranges. I fell in love with these ceramic spoons they are so pretty at last I have found something to go with my cake side plates. I had to have these to add to my collection.

I also like the spotty spoon too but i will have to wait until my birthday

Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie and Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar

Today i did a spot of baking and came across these on Twitter "The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie and Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar" what a mouthful. Although I ended up with more of a cookie dough base they still turned out moist and very scrumptious. I think a large scooping of ice cream would compliment these little beauties.

A cookie dough base with a layer of Oreo's then topped with a chocolate fudge brownie mix.

Recipe

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 pkg Double Stuffed Oreo's
1 Family Size (9×13) Brownie mix
1/4 cup hot fudge topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream the butter and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well to thoroughly combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt, then slowly incorporate into the mixer until the flour is just combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread the cookie dough in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish that’s been lined with wax paper and sprayed with cooking spray. Top with a layer of Oreos. Mix together brownie mix, adding an optional 1/4 cup of hot fudge topping to the mix. Pour the brownie batter over the cookie dough and Oreos. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 15-25 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting — brownies may still be gooey in the middle when still warm, but will set up perfectly once cooled. Enjoy!!

Special thanks to Kevin & Amanda for creating this recipe

Slip cover for foot stool

Here is the slip cover that I made for my sofa foot stool I used up some fabric that I bought last year. This is the first time I have ever made anything like this and really pleased with the way it has turned out. I added a few extra pieces to spice it up a bit, the lace trim puts a feminine touch this cover. If anyone is interested in how I made this please ask.

I think it works really well with the floral sofa covers that i bought gives it a shabby chic Cath Kidston feel.
Believe it or not this was really easy to make.

"Mirror, mirror upon the wall, Who is the fairest of all?"

So this week I have been sifting through all of my mirrors and decided to hang this one on the wall, it isn't as big as I wanted it to be but I am trying to find a home for all my beautiful junk. I decided to put all of my other pieces on Gumtree as there really isn't any room to store everything. I am one of those people who see's  something buys it and then see's something else and then cant part with my previous purchase. This mirror came free from a huge UK store it was a gesture of good will as we had ordered a wardrobe which took 6 months to arrive. It seems I have bad luck with on-line purchasing, I am not complaining though as this mirror had a £120 price tag and I charmed my way into having it.

A pure example of compulsive buying loveable "Junk" I still have not found a home for all my nooks and crannies at the moment it is all piled into the display cabinet. The cabinet that I have recently bought is still waiting for a makeover I am still contemplating which colour to paint it. Also this week I have made a slip cover for our large Ottoman I have become quite a professional on the sewing machine lately and managed to whip it up in one evening pictures to follow.
